Ketosis abnormalities typically occur in two scenarios:
1. **Starvation-induced ketosis**: Some individuals develop this condition due to inadequate food intake and insufficient caloric supply. In response, the body metabolizes fat for energy, leading to elevated blood and urine ketone levels.
2. **Diabetic ketosis or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)**: Patients with poorly controlled diabetes—especially over a prolonged period—are at increased risk of these acute diabetic complications. Further evaluation of blood glucose levels is required.
