Disease description:

Yesterday, I happened to pass by a pharmacy on the roadside and spontaneously decided to have my blood pressure measured. The reading was 114/70 mmHg. Is a blood pressure of 114/70 mmHg considered normal?

This falls within the normal range. Adult blood pressure naturally fluctuates; therefore, blood pressure measurements should be taken while the individual is at rest and on different days. Low blood pressure may occur in individuals with hypovolemia, low body weight, or chronic malnutrition. Conversely, factors such as emotional excitement or sleep deprivation may cause blood pressure to rise. Thus, blood pressure should ideally be measured multiple times under calm, resting conditions to obtain an accurate reflection of one’s true blood pressure level.
