What does it feel like when your water breaks?
Disease description:
I am now full-term pregnant and approaching my due date. This morning, upon waking up, I noticed my pants were damp—I’m unsure whether my water has broken. I’d like to know what it feels like when the membranes rupture (i.e., when the water breaks).
When the amniotic sac ruptures (“water breaks”), a woman typically feels a sudden gush of fluid from the vagina—warm, clear, and odorless—flowing down her legs. The leakage is often substantial, producing a distinct warm, watery sensation and cannot be voluntarily controlled. Upon noticing this, the pregnant woman may be uncertain whether labor has begun or if another issue is present; therefore, she should seek medical evaluation at a hospital as soon as possible.
