What Are the Normal Values for a Complete Blood Count (CBC)?
Disease description:
Hello, Doctor. I’ve been feeling extremely unwell over the past few days—constantly dizzy and generally uncomfortable. I have no appetite at all, even for foods I usually enjoy. Could you please help me review my complete blood count (CBC) report? What are the normal reference ranges for CBC parameters?
Complete Blood Count (CBC):
Under normal conditions, a CBC includes white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells (RBCs), hemoglobin (Hb), and platelets.
- Normal WBC count: 4–10 × 10⁹/L
- Normal RBC count: 3.5–5.5 × 10¹²/L
- Normal hemoglobin level: 110–150 g/L
- Normal platelet count: 100–300 × 10⁹/L
Additionally, the differential WBC count should be assessed, particularly the proportions of lymphocytes and neutrophils:
- Lymphocyte percentage: 20–40%
- Neutrophil percentage: ~50%
