Dr. Li Ruizhi
Long-term washing of the hair with cold water exerts a pronounced stimulatory effect on the blood vessels and nerves of the scalp, posing certain risks to the head. It may trigger paroxysmal vasospasm or cause tension-type headaches. Moreover, sudden cold-water stimulation can provoke a stress response in the nerves, leading to headache—and even colds or upper respiratory infections. Additionally, cold water is ineffective at removing sebum and significantly increases the likelihood of dandruff. At present, long-term use of cold water for hair washing is not recommended. Instead, ensure adequate sleep and protect the head from cold exposure.
