Do Jian Nao Bu Shen Wan (Brain-Tonifying and Kidney-Nourishing Pills) have any side effects?

Jiannao Bushen Pills are a traditional Chinese patent medicine with minimal side effects; however, they should not be taken for prolonged periods. Long-term use may significantly affect the kidneys and liver, leading to imbalances in kidney yin and yang, resulting in symptoms such as internal heat excess and sore throat. Patients with hypertension or diabetes should avoid this medication, as it may exacerbate their conditions. During treatment with Jiannao Bushen Pills, patients should avoid spicy, raw, cold, or greasy foods; concurrent use with Veratrum (Lilu), Sanguisorba (Wulingzhi), Gleditsia (Zaojiao), or their preparations is contraindicated; tea and radishes should also be avoided. This product is contraindicated during pregnancy.
