What are the effects of eating too many jujubes?
Disease description:
I’ve recently developed a fondness for eating Chinese dates (jujubes) and consume quite a few each day. What are the potential effects of eating too many Chinese dates?
Excessive consumption of jujubes (Chinese dates) can cause abdominal distension—i.e., bloating—and may place undue strain on the body and kidneys. It may also impair digestive function, potentially leading to constipation. Jujubes are high in sugar; therefore, individuals with diabetes should avoid both fresh jujubes and jujube-based snacks. During menstruation, women experiencing edema should refrain from consuming jujubes, as this may exacerbate fluid retention. Additionally, excessive jujube intake may stimulate increased gastric acid secretion.
