What does renal calcification mean?
Disease description:
Today, during my routine physical examination, the report indicated that I have renal calcification. Could you please explain what renal calcification means?
Renal calcification refers to the deposition of calcium in the kidneys due to elevated blood calcium ion levels. It may occur following renal trauma, resulting in substantial kidney tissue damage and subsequent calcium deposition within the necrotic renal tissue. This type of renal calcification is trauma-induced and represents a benign condition. If there is no associated inflammation or renal dysfunction, no specific treatment is required.
