What Causes Peeling Fingers and How Is It Treated?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve noticed my fingertips keep peeling—does anyone know what might be causing this, and how it should be treated?
Finger peeling may result from conditions such as exfoliative dermatitis, xerotic (dry-skin) eczema, tinea manuum (fungal infection of the hands), or dyshidrotic eczema. Pharmacological treatment is commonly employed; clinically used medications include antibiotics and antihistamines. Topical calcineurin inhibitors—such as tacrolimus ointment and pimecrolimus cream—are also effective therapeutic options. Additionally, topical application of vitamin E may help alleviate symptoms including dryness and peeling.
