What causes purulent discharge from the urethra?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve noticed pus discharge from the urethra during urination, accompanied by some pain. What causes urethral pus discharge?
Purulent discharge from the urethra is typically caused by urethritis or a urethral infection. Following infection, the body’s white blood cells transform into pus cells and are expelled externally via the urethral meatus. This is often accompanied by symptoms such as dysuria, urinary frequency, and urinary tract irritation. Prompt oral administration of antibiotics—such as ampicillin or ofloxacin—is recommended to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, alcohol and spicy foods should be strictly avoided during treatment.
