What Causes Elevated Mucus Threads in Urine?
Disease description:
During a hospital examination, the test result indicated a high level of mucus threads in the urine. What could cause this?
Elevated mucous threads in urine may result from the presence of mucus mixed into the urine. In males, both the prostate gland and the urethra can secrete mucus; if this mucus enters the urine during urination, elevated mucous threads may be observed. Similarly, in females, vaginal secretions entering the urine can produce the same finding. Additionally, urinary tract infections—caused by bacterial or other irritants—can lead to the appearance of thread-like mucus in the urine, resulting in elevated mucous threads.
