Dr. Jin Zhongkui
Bile is secreted by the liver. After a person eats, the gallbladder contracts and releases a portion of its stored bile. However, all bile is synthesized in the liver and subsequently stored in the gallbladder. Upon food intake, the gallbladder contracts to release bile into the digestive tract. Many people mistakenly believe that bile is synthesized within the gallbladder; in fact, the liver is the primary organ responsible for both synthesizing and secreting bile. The liver performs numerous vital functions, one of which is the synthesis and secretion of bile.
