Dr. Cui Xin
Blue-tinged sclerae (whites of the eyes) typically have two possible causes. First, anemia should be considered. Second, prolonged eye strain and certain chronic ocular inflammations may also lead to this appearance. Patients are advised to prioritize adequate eye rest, minimize screen time—especially computer use—and consult a physician for a complete blood count (CBC). Based on the results, targeted interventions can be implemented, including increasing dietary intake of iron-rich and blood-nourishing foods, such as red dates (jujubes) and longan fruit.
