What symptoms does a pituitary prolactinoma cause?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been researching prolactinomas—pituitary tumors that secrete prolactin—and would like to consult: What symptoms are associated with a prolactinoma?
Symptoms of a prolactinoma—a type of pituitary tumor—may include headache, menstrual disturbances, and osteoporosis. Prolactinomas are associated with excessive secretion of prolactin. During disease onset, patients may experience shortened menstrual cycles, reduced menstrual flow, and delayed menstruation. Elevated intracranial pressure may also occur, leading to headache accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Additionally, proptosis (bulging eyes) and varying degrees of osteoporosis may develop. Prompt treatment is essential to control disease progression.
