What Causes Small Red Spots (Petechiae) on the Body?
Disease description:
I suddenly noticed many small red spots on my body over the past two days. What could be causing these small red spots?
The appearance of isolated small red spots on the body without other associated symptoms may indicate allergic purpura; however, primary immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), which causes localized skin petechiae due to thrombocytopenia, cannot be ruled out. The patient should promptly visit a hospital for complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis, coagulation profile (four parameters), and bone marrow aspiration to identify the underlying cause and guide appropriate treatment.
