Dry throat and cough require treatment based on the underlying cause. If caused by chronic pharyngitis, lozenges or topical pharyngeal sprays may be used. If due to allergic pharyngitis, antihistamines or other anti-allergic medications are indicated; in severe cases, inhaled corticosteroids via nebulization may also be required. During treatment, dietary precautions are essential: avoid spicy or irritating foods, and increase intake of fresh vegetables and fruits.
