Dr. Yang Qiong
Advanced maternal age increases the risk of fetal congenital anomalies compared to younger women attempting conception. Therefore, preconception screening for healthy pregnancy (e.g., genetic and general health assessments) is essential to evaluate whether one’s physical condition meets the criteria for a safe pregnancy. During pregnancy, regular antenatal monitoring of blood glucose and blood pressure is crucial to prevent high-risk pregnancy complications. Regarding prenatal screening for fetal abnormalities, traditional first-trimester combined screening (triple or quadruple test) offers limited value; instead, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) or amniocentesis is recommended.
