Unexplained high fever refers to fever of unknown origin. This condition may arise from acute infectious diseases—such as bacterial or viral infections—leading to gastrointestinal infections, urinary tract infections, viral myocarditis, meningitis, and other conditions that trigger the body’s defensive response. Additionally, acute non-infectious conditions—including heatstroke, systemic lupus erythematosus, and malignancies—can also cause such fevers.
