I’ve been coughing frequently over the past two days. My husband suggested drinking garlic boiled with rock sugar. Does garlic boiled with rock sugar help treat coughs?

Boiling garlic in rock sugar water can alleviate cough symptoms to some extent and serves as an adjunctive therapy; however, its efficacy is limited, and therefore it should not be used as a primary treatment for cough. When cough occurs, the underlying cause must be identified. For coughs caused by common colds or exposure to cold, patients should strictly follow their physician’s instructions and take appropriate antitussive medications to relieve symptoms.
