What should I do if my eyes are flash-burned by welding?
Disease description:
Today, I helped a friend with some welding work but didn’t wear proper protective eyewear. As a result, my eyes were exposed to the welding arc and are now slightly red and painful. Could you advise what I should do in this situation?
After the eyes are exposed to welding arc flash, antibiotic eye drops can be used to prevent infection; commonly used options include levofloxacin eye drops and tobramycin eye drops. If severe pain becomes unbearable, cold compresses may also be applied to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, for corneal epithelial injury, artificial tears or recombinant bovine epidermal growth factor gel may be instilled to promote corneal epithelial healing.
