If a breastfeeding mother experiences diarrhea and the condition is mild, medication may not be necessary initially. However, if the diarrhea is severe, medications such as smectite powder or probiotics may be used under a physician’s guidance to help control diarrhea and protect the gastric mucosa. These medications do not interfere with normal milk production, do not affect breast milk quality, and pose no risk to the infant.
