I went for a liver function test today to check my ALT levels, but I don’t understand the report. Could you please tell me what the normal range is for ALT in liver function tests?

Liver function test: ALT (alanine aminotransferase) typically has a normal reference range of 0–40 U/L. However, different hospitals may use varying assay reagents and instruments, resulting in slightly different established normal ranges. Therefore, interpretation should always be based on the specific reference range provided on the individual laboratory report. If a patient’s ALT level is significantly elevated beyond the normal range, further evaluation at a hospital is recommended.
