Patients with gout can eat potatoes. Potatoes are not high-purine foods; however, the cooking method should be carefully considered—fried potatoes should be avoided. Additionally, potatoes are relatively high in starch; therefore, patients with concurrent disorders of glucose metabolism should avoid consuming them. Gout is a metabolic disorder caused by elevated uric acid levels in the body. In daily dietary management, patients should prioritize low-purine foods and limit intake of high-purine foods, such as organ meats, seafood, grilled or barbecued meats, beer, and rich meat broths. They may also appropriately consume foods rich in vitamins.
