Patients with gout are advised to avoid consuming beef tripe. The dietary principle for gout patients is to avoid foods relatively high in purines—such as organ meats, rich broths, and hotpot soup. During remission, moderate-purine foods—like meat—may be consumed in appropriate amounts, preferably lean white meats such as goose, duck, or chicken.
