Can people with gout eat chicken?
Disease description:
I personally enjoy eating chicken, but I’ve recently experienced a gout flare-up and am unsure whether it’s safe. May I ask: Can people with gout eat chicken?
Gout patients may consume chicken in moderation. Patients with gout should adhere to a low-purine diet whenever possible. Chicken, duck, goose, and other poultry are classified as moderate- or low-purine meats. Generally, moderate-purine meats should be limited—especially during acute gout flares or periods of elevated serum uric acid levels.
