Can people with high uric acid levels eat duck meat?
Disease description:
I personally enjoy eating duck meat, but I have hyperuricemia. Therefore, I would like to know: Can people with high uric acid levels eat duck meat?
Patients with hyperuricemia should limit their consumption of duck meat. Uric acid is a metabolic byproduct of purine nucleotides in the body; therefore, foods high in purines are unsuitable for individuals with elevated uric acid levels. Excessive intake may further increase serum uric acid levels and trigger gout attacks. In addition to duck meat, other meats—including chicken, lamb, and beef—also contain moderate amounts of purines.
