I personally enjoy eating chicken breast, especially as part of a weight-loss diet. However, I’ve recently been diagnosed with hyperuricemia and would like to know: Is it safe for individuals with high uric acid levels to consume chicken breast?

Patients with hyperuricemia should limit their intake of chicken breast. Chicken breast is classified as a moderate-purine food. During the acute phase of gout, patients must avoid chicken breast entirely; however, during the intercritical (asymptomatic) period—when no joint pain is present—they may consume small amounts of chicken breast. In general, patients with elevated serum uric acid levels should adhere to a low-purine diet, avoid high-purine foods such as organ meats, and deliberately increase fluid intake to ensure a daily urine output exceeding 2000 mL.
