Miliaria (prickly heat) is primarily a skin rash caused by high temperatures, humidity, and blocked sweat ducts. Once the patient is removed from the hot, humid environment, miliaria typically resolves spontaneously, and aggressive treatment is generally unnecessary. Although topical medications—such as calamine lotion or menthol-based preparations—may be applied, they are best used after bathing. For cases accompanied by significant pruritus, oral antihistamines (e.g., chlorpheniramine or cetirizine) may be prescribed. Patients are advised to wear loose-fitting, comfortable, breathable clothing—such as cotton, linen, or silk—to facilitate sweat evaporation and avoid wearing excessive tight-fitting garments.
