How long does lip swelling from a mosquito bite last?
Disease description:
I am 20 years old. Last night, my lip was bitten by a mosquito, and swelling subsequently occurred. I would like to know how long it typically takes for swelling from a mosquito bite on the lip to subside.
Swelling from a mosquito bite on the lip typically resolves within 3 to 5 days. If the patient applies a baking soda solution or soapy water topically within several hours of the bite, it can neutralize the acidic substances injected by the mosquito during feeding, thereby helping to neutralize the toxin. Once the toxin is neutralized, local swelling will gradually subside. Additionally, patients may apply a boric acid solution as a local wet compress to facilitate rapid reduction of swelling.
