Is dyshidrotic eczema caused by a viral infection?
Disease description:
I recently developed blisters on my hands, and my doctor diagnosed it as dyshidrotic eczema. Is dyshidrotic eczema caused by a viral infection?
Dyshidrotic eczema is not caused by a viral infection. Also known as dyshidrosis or pompholyx, it is a non-contagious condition unrelated to viral infections. Dyshidrotic eczema may be associated with numerous factors: exposure to allergens—such as certain foods, hair dyes, or formaldehyde—can trigger it; fungal infection may also contribute; and excessive sweating coupled with inadequate hygiene can likewise precipitate its onset.
