Disease description:

I’m 34 this year and feel as though I’ve entered menopause. During the day, I’m fine, but at night I sweat continuously. After consulting a doctor, I was told it might be menopausal hot flashes. I’d like to know how long menopausal hot flashes typically last before subsiding.

Menopausal hot flashes typically last 1–2 years, though in some patients they may persist for more than 5 years before resolving. These hot flashes are often triggered by declining ovarian function, reduced or fluctuating levels of sex hormones. During menopause, most patients experience symptoms such as sweating, palpitations, irritability, and soreness or weakness in the lower back and knees. Mild cases may involve multiple episodes per day, while severe cases can involve 10 or more episodes daily; hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is often required.
