Gastritis can cause abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and diarrhea—symptoms that are relatively typical of this condition. Additionally, gastritis may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting or upper gastrointestinal bleeding, which may manifest as blood in the stool. Most cases of gastritis result from *Helicobacter pylori* infection or consumption of unhygienic food, both of which commonly damage the gastric mucosa and lead to the aforementioned symptoms.
