Calamine lotion can be used for mosquito bites in toddlers. Its primary function is to relieve itching. When itching occurs after a mosquito bite, calamine lotion can be applied to the affected area to alleviate discomfort. However, calamine lotion only provides antiseptic and antibacterial effects. If an allergic reaction develops—such as skin swelling or hives—after a mosquito bite, erythromycin ointment should be applied following calamine lotion for treatment.
