How to Treat Tinea (Ringworm)
Disease description:
I’ve had tinea (ringworm) for a long time, and it hasn’t responded to treatment. How can tinea be effectively treated?
The treatment of dermatophytosis (tinea) generally falls into two categories: pharmacological therapy and physical therapy. For tinea caused by fungal infection, topical antifungal agents—such as ketoconazole cream, butenafine cream, terbinafine spray, and clotrimazole cream—are recommended under a physician’s guidance, often combined with oral antifungals like terbinafine tablets or itraconazole capsules. In contrast, for psoriasis, physical therapies—including ultraviolet (UV) and infrared radiation—are typically administered in a hospital setting.
