Oblique fractures refer to fractures in which the fracture line runs at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the bone shaft. They can be classified into two typical types: short oblique fractures and long oblique fractures. Among these, short oblique fractures are unstable; even after anatomical reduction, maintaining proper alignment and apposition of the fracture fragments is difficult. Therefore, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is commonly indicated. Fixation with screws placed perpendicular to the fracture line enhances stability at the fracture site.
