How long does it take to cure pulmonary tuberculosis?
Disease description:
I’m not even sure when I contracted tuberculosis. Now that it’s been detected during a check-up, I need to start treatment—but I have no idea how long it will take to recover. How long does it typically take to cure tuberculosis?
The duration of recovery from pulmonary tuberculosis depends on the severity of the disease. Generally, patients with mild, early-stage disease can achieve full recovery after approximately six months of standardized, combination drug therapy under a physician’s guidance. For patients with recurrent pulmonary tuberculosis, treatment may take longer—up to about one year. In cases of severe disease with drug resistance, treatment typically requires around two years.
