What symptoms are typically manifested in the late stage of liver cirrhosis?
Disease description:
My father is now 64 years old and has had cirrhosis for many years. He now appears to be in the advanced (end-stage) phase. Could you please explain what symptoms are typically observed in end-stage cirrhosis?
In the late stage of cirrhosis, liver damage is severe and manifests with numerous adverse symptoms. Common manifestations include massive ascites, abdominal distension, splenomegaly, hypersplenism, palmar erythema, and spider angiomas. Patients frequently experience generalized fatigue, decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Additional symptoms may include hematochezia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, hematemesis, and edema. Once late-stage symptoms of cirrhosis appear, comprehensive treatment is required to control disease progression and prevent serious complications.
