What medications can be applied to treat infant scrotal eczema?
Disease description:
Today, while cleaning my baby’s bottom, I noticed numerous small bumps on the scrotum. The doctor diagnosed it as scrotal eczema—what topical medication should be used for treatment?
Most cases of scrotal eczema in infants are caused by allergic factors. If itching is present, calamine lotion can be used for symptomatic relief. Additionally, under a physician’s guidance, topical corticosteroid ointments—such as hydrocortisone butyrate ointment or desonide ointment—may be prescribed. Antihistamines—including chlorpheniramine maleate and diphenhydramine—should also be administered concurrently to manage the allergic response.
