Can CT and ultrasound detect bladder cancer?
Disease description:
I’m feeling unwell and would like to undergo a CT scan or ultrasound examination. Can either CT or ultrasound detect bladder cancer?
CT and ultrasound are generally suitable for bladder cancer screening. However, CT alone cannot definitively diagnose early-stage bladder cancer, although it can detect abnormalities in the bladder. In such cases, ultrasound provides more accurate assessment. Additionally, during cystoscopy, a biopsy must be performed to establish a definitive pathological diagnosis, which greatly aids in formulating an effective treatment plan.
