What should I do about snoring and dry mouth?
Disease description:
My father snores very loudly while sleeping, and he experiences dry mouth and throat upon waking. I’d like to know what can be done about snoring and dry mouth/throat.
Individuals who are overweight and have a short neck are advised to visit the Department of Respiratory Medicine at a hospital for sleep respiratory monitoring to assess for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. If diagnosed, early intervention can help prevent complications involving the upper airway, heart, and brain. Common treatment approaches include pharmacotherapy. Some patients require positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy, while others may benefit from oral appliances. Regular follow-up visits during treatment are essential to monitor therapeutic efficacy. Dietary recommendations include consuming light, easily digestible meals; increasing intake of vegetables and fruits; and drinking ample warm water.
