To alleviate kidney stone pain, it is recommended to seek medical treatment at a hospital. If the pain is mild, increasing fluid intake and physical activity—and thereby promoting frequent urination—can help flush out the stones. In cases of severe renal colic accompanied by nausea and vomiting, spasmolytic and analgesic medications such as phloroglucinol or pethidine may be used for symptom relief. Pain episodes are often associated with urinary tract infection; therefore, anti-inflammatory medications—including aspirin, ibuprofen, or diclofenac—may be prescribed orally under a physician’s guidance.
