What should I do if I have an anal fissure and experience itching?
Disease description:
A few days ago, I developed an anal fissure due to excessive internal heat (“shang huo”). Today, I’m experiencing significant itching around the buttocks. What should I do about itching associated with an anal fissure?
For anal fissures accompanied by pruritus ani (itching around the anus), maintaining local cleanliness and hygiene is essential. Topical application of anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and heat-clearing ointments—such as hemorrhoid ointment, erythromycin ointment, or fusidic acid cream—may help alleviate symptoms. Patients are advised to change undergarments frequently and keep the perianal area dry. In daily life, patients should avoid spicy and irritating foods and must abstain from smoking and alcohol consumption.
