Scars resulting from mosquito bites can be lightened by applying hydroquinone cream. Itching is typically prominent after a mosquito bite, and repeated scratching often leads to skin hypertrophy (excessive tissue growth). Regularly massaging the scarred area with the heel of the hand may help. Additionally, rubbing the scar with fresh ginger slices—moving them back and forth over the affected area—can effectively inhibit further granulation tissue growth. If scarring occurs following an insect bite, avoid scratching it with your fingers to prevent infection.
