Can you get mumps only once?
Disease description:
I was diagnosed with mumps a few days ago. However, some friends around me have had mumps twice, so I’d like to ask: Is mumps a one-time illness?
Whether mumps occurs only once depends on its specific type.
If it is epidemic mumps, antibodies typically remain in the body after recovery, making reinfection unlikely. However, mumps can result from various causes; for instance, bacterial infection or autoimmune disorders may also lead to salivary gland inflammation.
Individuals with mumps are advised to seek active treatment under a physician’s guidance to prevent disease progression or complications.
