How long does angular cheilitis take to heal?
Disease description:
A few days ago, the corners of my mouth became cracked and very painful. A friend said it’s angular cheilitis. It’s been several days already, but it hasn’t healed yet. I’d like to ask: How long does angular cheilitis typically take to resolve?
The duration required to treat angular cheilitis depends on its specific underlying cause. Additionally, individual differences in constitution mean that recovery times vary from person to person. For instance, if angular cheilitis results from habitual lip-licking, the fissures typically heal within approximately one week after discontinuing this behavior; however, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may take longer to resolve. In cases of candidal angular cheilitis caused by ill-fitting dentures, treatment involves both denture adjustment or replacement and antifungal therapy, with gradual improvement usually observed within about one week.
