Why does biting the inner cheek lead to mouth ulcers?
Disease description:
I bit the inside of my cheek while eating two days ago, and today I noticed it has developed into an ulcer. Why does biting the inner cheek lead to an ulcer?
An ulcer resulting from biting the inner lining of the mouth is known as a traumatic oral ulcer, primarily caused by bacterial infection following the injury. The etiology of oral ulcers is complex; local trauma may merely serve as a triggering factor, while underlying immune deficiency or vitamin deficiencies predispose individuals to developing such ulcers. Oral ulcers are generally self-limiting, and pharmacologic treatment can alleviate pain and reduce inflammation, thereby promoting more rapid healing of the ulcerated area.
