Why am I still constipated despite drinking a lot of water?
Disease description:
Constipation has recently developed. Although daily water intake has increased, constipation persists. Why does constipation still occur despite drinking large amounts of water?
Increasing fluid intake helps improve stool moisture. If constipation is caused by excessively dry and hard stools, increasing fluid intake may alleviate the condition. However, constipation has many potential causes—such as reduced intestinal motility or gastrointestinal disorders—for which increased fluid intake offers no therapeutic benefit. If constipation persists for an extended period or symptoms are pronounced, the underlying cause should be identified and treated accordingly.
