Intense anal itching at night may be caused by dermatitis, or it may result from hot weather and wearing non-breathable underwear, which can trigger eczema. It may also be due to enterobiasis (pinworm infection) caused by accidental ingestion of pinworm eggs. Scratching or rubbing should be avoided. Based on the underlying cause, appropriate medication should be selected under a physician’s guidance.
