Hemorrhoids can be accompanied by itching. Symptoms vary depending on the type of hemorrhoid. Generally, patients with external hemorrhoids commonly experience pain, itching, bleeding, and perianal swelling. Patients with internal hemorrhoids are often asymptomatic but may experience bleeding, pain, discomfort, and itching during defecation. Patients with mixed hemorrhoids typically suffer from severe pain, marked swelling, and palpable hard nodules around the anus.
