What Causes Bad Breath in a 3-Year-Old Child?
Disease description:
My daughter is only three years old. Today, while playing with her in my arms, I suddenly noticed she had bad breath. What could be causing halitosis in a three-year-old child?
In children, internal heat accumulation and food stagnation may manifest as halitosis, warmth in the palms and soles, and a thick, yellowish, slightly reddened tongue coating. A comprehensive oral examination is required for any 3-year-old child presenting with oral ulcers, gingivitis, or dental caries. Halitosis arises from bacterial activity within the oral cavity. Infants and young children have relatively immature digestive function; excessive intake of high-protein, high-calorie foods can impair digestion, leading to food stagnation in the gastrointestinal tract and subsequent halitosis.
